Games
Every GTA game has its own radio identity. These four games are part of the project.
3D era
The games where stations, presenters and fictional advertising became a defining part of the world.
HD era
Larger worlds, more detailed broadcasts and radio that keeps evolving.
At a glance
- Vice City (2002): set in 1986, nine stations.
- San Andreas (2004): set in 1992, eleven stations.
- GTA IV (2008): Liberty City, a wide mix of music and talk stations.
- GTA V (2013): Los Santos and Blaine County, stations hosted by well-known artists.
How GTA radio evolved
The idea grew in steps. In the early games each station was a fixed recording that simply repeated. San Andreas assembled its stations from separate tracks, presenter segments and adverts, so the order and the comments varied from drive to drive. GTA IV pushed this further, with presenters and news programmes that refer to the weather and the time of day, and with expansions that added new material to existing stations. In GTA V many stations are hosted by well-known musicians and DJs.
More GTA games may follow once their stations and matching artwork are ready. Progress is documented on the development history page.
