About
I’m the creator, author and owner of this independent GTA Radio project.
Who I am
I created Stayrich as a personal website and I am the person behind the GTA Radio project published here.
I have always enjoyed the way technology can turn an idea into something you can actually use. The GTA Radio project combines that interest with something I have enjoyed for years: the atmosphere, music, presenters and fictional programming of the radio stations in Grand Theft Auto.
What started as a technical experiment gradually became a complete online radio project. I build the software, manage the server, organise the audio and work on the website myself.
Why I built GTA Radio
The radio stations in the Grand Theft Auto games are more than background music. They are part of the identity of each game. Music, commercials, talk shows and presenters continue playing while you explore the game world, which makes the radio feel like a real broadcast rather than a simple playlist.
I wanted to explore whether that feeling could be recreated as a standalone listening experience in a modern web browser.
That led me to build a system that can continuously play local audio, handle interruptions, maintain playback state and provide a simple radio interface that works on desktop and mobile devices.
What I work on
The project involves several different parts. I work on the Python-based radio server, the web player, audio handling, browser compatibility, mobile behaviour and the infrastructure running the project.
The technical side is documented throughout this website. The project page explains how the idea developed, while the technology page goes deeper into the server and browser implementation.
How I use AI
I use AI tools as an assistant in this project. They help me write and refine code, optimise the server setup, improve the website and create the logo and app icon.
I decide what gets built, test it on real devices and take responsibility for everything published here.
Why Stayrich?
Stayrich.nl was originally a domain I bought years ago with the intention of eventually building a webshop. That webshop was never launched, but I kept the domain.
When the GTA Radio project developed into something larger, I decided to use Stayrich.nl as the home for it. The name therefore refers to the domain rather than to a separate company or organisation behind the radio project.
Stayrich.nl is simply the website I use to publish and document my work.
Independent project
GTA Radio is an independent fan and technology project. It is not operated by, sponsored by or officially affiliated with Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive.
Grand Theft Auto and related names, trademarks and intellectual property belong to their respective rights holders. References to the games and their radio stations are made in the context of this independent project.
